The concert of the year that will, without a doubt, receive all-around recognition in Malaysia, has now been confirmed. Big Bang, consisting of five K-pop lads (and soloists in their own right) G-Dragon, Taeyang, TOP, Seungri and Daesung, will perform the Malaysian leg of the BIGBANG Alive Tour 2012 on 27 Oct 2012 at Stadium Merdeka. This one-night performance also comes as their very first concert in Malaysia. A revolutionary K-pop group, Big Bang is known for its unique urban-originated music and fashion style. Often credited to have shaped the hip-hop, R&B as well as the electronic music scene in Asia, they’re ready as ever to make their mark on the world with this global tour.

BIGBANG Alive Tour 2012 is set to be an extraordinary spectacle in terms of production size and creative design. With a production value of more than RM 3 million, and the influence of internationally-renowned creative director, Laurieann Gibson, who has worked with a stellar list of artistes including Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Janet Jackson and Katy Perry, ALIVE is sure to stun. A stellar production team will also support the tour; creatives include stage and lighting designer Leroy Bennett (Madonna, Paul McCartney, Eagles) and sound engineer Ken Van Druten (Eminem, Jay-Z, Linkin Park).

BIGBANG Alive Tour 2012 officially launched on 2nd March 2012 in Seoul, performing three consecutive sold-out nights with more than 30,000 people in audience. These K-pop “Kings”, as they’re affectionately addressed by fans, are scheduled to tour Japan, touch down in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia and Hong Kong, and thereafter, take their tour to America as well as Europe. Answering the call of Malaysian VIPs via the group’s Facebook page(s) and several other forums, BIGBANG is set to thrill fans and music lovers alike.

Talk of success for this international event has not been simply swiped out of thin air. BIGBANG’s recent mini album ‘ALIVE’ recorded physical sales of X,000,000 copies around the world within a short two months. The disc charted number 5 on US iTunes Top Albums and number 3 on counterpart, Canadian iTunes, setting a new record for Korean albums. The music video of single, “Blue”, garnered more than 2 million views on YouTube within 24 hours and placed 1st on over seven digital charts in Korea. To put a cherry on top, the song also became the most downloaded ringtone.

With the most recent release of a special edition of ‘STILL ALIVE’, BIGBANG continues to blaze a trail of success — YouTube footage of ‘STILL ALIVE’ recorded four million views in only two days. For those who haven’t caught on, Big Bang became the first Asian band to receive the “Worldwide Act” Award, with over 58 million votes, at the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards. A commendable statistic also reveals the boys as the current holders of a record high for amassed number of music show awards — among themselves, they share 56 group awards for BIGBANG and a total of 93 individual awards.
