Not since Back to the Future was in vogue have I seen so many people enthralled by the theme of time travel. As with all things in pop culture, K-drama also has its trends and patterns and since I’ve jumped on the current bandwagon, I thought to offer up a little review of Rooftop Prince.
As promised at the end of our last article, kourier‘s taking you on a ride of the tour that was B2ST‘s “Beautiful Show”. This made for our second outing to a Beast event, our first one being to their Asia Fanmeet Tour. We definitely shared the elation from Beauties all around — it’s a rather amazing feat for an idol group, only four years into their career, to be making as many as six trips to see their fans.
Fast fact: Did you know that B2ST had racked up a total of six visits to our sunny island? (Yes, we dug up archives to be absolutely sure!) That equates a top tally which also makes the boys one of Singapore’s favourite groups of all time.
With Super Show 3 being the first ever full-fledged K-pop concert I’d ever attended, it left me blown away; from the amazing pyrotechnic effects on stage… to getting hit by a bottle thrown from Ryeowook… Just kidding. But anyway, to sum it all up, that concert experience left me yearning for more, and also looking forward to more of Super Junior in Singapore.
The sun was scorching outside, but that didn’t deter the hordes of fans that were queueing outside the Max Pavilion on a hot Sunday afternoon. The excitement in the moments leading up to the start of FT Island‘s first major concert in Singapore was palpable, and even more so when the group’s 5 members – Choi Jong Hun, Lee Hongki, Lee Jae Jin, Song Seung Hyun andChoi Min Hwan – took the stage.
Day 2 saw Block B at St. James Powerhouse for their “Do You Wanna Be Block B” showcase, and the place was packed with fans who came prepared with placards, their screaming voices and some lucky fans who got to show off their dance moves.
It had been an eventful 2011 for local K-pop fans and Block B‘s first visit to Singapore ensured that the year closed with a bang! The 7-membered Korean hip-hop idol group were in town on 28th December for a showcase and meet-and-greet, and kourier was present at the press conference to get the latest on their current activities.
2011 was the year some Korean actors came back and wowed audiences. My mental catalogue conjures up names like Lee Min Ho, Lee Dong Wook, Kim Sun Ah, Ji Sung and Choi Kang Hee. One name that has been making ricochets for me is Jung Il Woo.
